(3) In order to enhance constructive and principled engagement with all stakeholders, including the Government of Myanmar and the international community, a 11-month consultancy, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), was commissioned from February 2020 to January 2021 to support the Secretariat’s day to day coordination/ communication work, and to maintain close working relationship with the Government, especially the Development Assistance Cooperation Unit (DACU) and the Foreign Economic Relations Department (FERD). Another 6-month consultancy, based in Nay Pyi Taw, was commissioned from November 2020 to May 2021 to accommodate COVID-related travel restrictions and support CPG coordination with the Government counterparts in the capital. (4) CPs are currently supporting the restructuring process through the CPG Development Effectiveness Work Stream, the CSO/INGO Liaison Work Stream, and other sector-based coordination fora. Two meetings at the Development Effectiveness Work Stream and one meeting at the CSO/INGO Liaison Work Stream have been organized to discuss CPG engagement in the new coordination structure. In Inle Lake, the results are: 1. The basis for an Inle Lake Management Authority (ILMA) has been established including a terms of reference, list of priority actions, and baseline information in a database that includes linkages to monitoring indicators for aquatic quality, management guidelines, a GIS-based boundary map, along with mapping of selected ecosystem services. 2. The Law governing the establishment of an ILMA was modified and strengthened through 10 public meetings arranged under the project to enable public input into the Law, which was enacted in 2019. 3. Efforts to inform the public about environmental issues at the Lake, understand their concerns about the Lake, and to communicate project progress were accomplished through a KAP survey; the “Young Ambassadors’ Programme” which resulted in greatly raised public awareness, and a database that includes aquatic monitoring indicators. The database includes linkages to reports and publications pertaining to information about Inle Lake. 4. Three reports on financing for the ILMA were produced to estimate funding requirements, suggest funding sources, and provide a review of the ILTF. 5. Gender equality was fundamental to project implementation and efforts were made to involve women in all public meetings and project activities to enhance women’s opportunities for engagement in ILMA decision-making. For the Young Ambassadors Programme, 60% of the ‘ambassadors’ are female. In Rakhine State, activities towards mainstreaming disaster risk reduction and social and environmental safeguards (SES) could no longer continue in compliance with the UN Principles of Engagement. The project redesigned the activities and pivoted towards partnership with local civil society organizations to deliver disaster preparedness, response and recovery, including in areas where humanitarian access is restricted.
