The Centre was able to revive the legacy electronic database that was otherwise inaccessible and outdated. UNDP experts are leading other efforts to enhance the performance of existing remote water monitoring systems for groundwater and surface water. Remote sensing applications to water regulations and monitoring have also been developed. Conduct Water data analysis in real-time, classifying and analysing data using various methods, including modelling and remote sensing, and evaluate and document the daily data that come from other systems related to the water sector; UNDP had previously completed an extensive proposal to design, implement and govern an integrated water management information system (IWMIS). The UNDP proposal covered data acquisition (e.g. automatic water abstraction metering and transmission), storage and processing to facilitate real-time IWRM decision-making. Water sources were to include aquifers, surface water, treated sewage effluent (TSE) and desalinated sea water. Number of non-profit organizations participating in MOH operations The aggregate demand for housing amounted to 1.45 million housing units across the various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (ESKAN online and Real Estate Development Fund). Review and analysis of the gaps and bottlenecks in the current frameworks and regulations related to non-profit housing initiatives, with particular attention to resolution 198- 8 Definition of integrated regulations, criteria, and standards for updated procedures of non-profit housing delivery. 5 Suggest or redefine 4 of the criteria for the selection of beneficiary target groups Data source: MOH and other relevant institutions • Since the inception of this reporting period, staff has been put in place including a Technical Team Manager/ Housing Policy Senior Expert, technical working groups comprised of Habitat HQ staff, Riyadh based administrative support and a consultant for UNDP (for sub-output 3.1). • Work has progressed in six key outputs of the project. • The team has collected pertinent data and information, and report drafting is fully in progress. • The team continues to coordinate all program outputs with Ministry of Housing staff including but not limited to, five technical meetings and fourteen informational meetings with MoH counterparts. Riyadh staff regularly meets with staff members to better understand the Developmental Housing programme goals, and bottlenecks. • A questionnaire for housing beneficiaries and non-profits was developed to better understand program implementation issues and opportunities and it will be administered in October 2020. • UN-Habitat staff will visit fifteen developmental housing locations, to support the spatial assessment of current developmental housing locations (sub-output 3.2). Site locations have been identified (sub-output 3.2) and visits will begin in October. • An On-the-Job training curriculum has been developed to support capacity building of MoH staff on development housing related topics. Sessions will be delivered by UN-Habitat HQ subject experts, in which three-hour sessions will be held once monthly. The training curriculum has been approved by the Ministry of Housing and he first session will begin in October 2020. • Challenges to implementation includes that the Development Housing programme is currently in the process of revising the housing targets, goals and delivery streams due to budget constraints and implementation postponements due to COVID. Further, many laws, decrees and regulations are also currently under revision and therefore, constant communication with MoH is necessary to ensure the project assessment is timely and accurate. To address this challenge, one focal point has been assigned by MoH to UN-Habitat support information gathering and assuring the work is relevant. Other challenges include travel limitations to Riyadh due to COVD-19. Comprehensive review of the household’s characteristics of the existing non-profit housing initiatives and programmes in selected Saudi cities to study the socioeconomic development of subsidized households for their reintegration into market-price housing. It includes a comprehensive review of existing non-profit housing initiatives and programmes in selected Saudi cities as well as the review of legal mechanism/ types of housing ownership. .
