Despite this, the technical equipment arrived in Tuvalu in 3rd quarter 2021, and they will be relocated for storage by the Tuvalu Electricity Corporation (TEC). As soon as borders open in Tuvalu, technical experts from the consulting company (CBS Solutions) will travel to Tuvalu from Fiji to install and commission the solar home systems on Funaota islet, as well as train the local technicians. Installations are expected to take place in first quarter 2022. CBS will be looking after the installations. This means seeking out intra-island , regional & international trade opportunities, including linking to buyers through networks such as PTI NZ and PTI Australia; - offer training to improve production practices at various levels of the value chainand supporting MSMEs to comply with export standards. - Ensuring equity, the EIF Project Team has made it a focus on Tier 2 to incorporate gender and environmental awareness trainings. - To date Over 300 participants (including 145 women and 100 youth) have participated in EIF trainings to improve their participation in value chains. This training has contributed to value addition in key sectors namely Agriculture and Fisheries thus paving the way for market penetration in new markets in 2022.
